First one has to bring the concept of Gender based violence (GBV) into context. Today we find the term loosely used and at times correctly applied. We have to realise as well that at the time the Bible was written GBV as a terminology did not exist. In short gender based violence refers to any act that results in or is likely to result in physical, sexual or psychological harm or suffering to women including threats of such acts, coercion or depriving women of their freedom but is not limited to said physical, sexual or psychological acts of violence. Considering the above read Genesis 34: 1 – 2, Deuteronomy 22: 25 – 26, Judges 19: 25, 2 Samuel 13:1-19, Ecclesiastes 4: 1 The solution to gender based violence is of course Jesus in that He died for all because of love; John 3: 16 - 17.
