Why did Christ not enter into a dispute with Lucìfer when he asked for the body of Moses according to the book of Jude?
Your question confirms that you are comfortable that Michael or, Christ is the same person, and I am in agreement. Michael means “one who is like God.†Jesus is called Michael every time as the Archangel He assumes the leadership over the angels while in conflict with Satan. Jude 1:9 “Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!†At the age of 120, Moses climbed mount Nebo and died there. This suggests that it was in God’s will for him to die there and then without having contracted a serious illness. Remember, he did not inherit the Promised Land because of hitting the rock instead of only speaking to it as he was instructed to do. When Moses died, his Friend God/Michael had an even better inheritance for him. Michael wanted to resurrect him yet, Satan immediately disputed Christ’s authority to perform this since this took place prior to Jesus’ crucifixion that was what overcame Satan and death. Jesus was borrowing from His future (prophesied) ability to overcome Satan and the second death that would take place in the future after having been on the cross. It is clear that Satan could not prevent Christ from resurrecting Moses as the writing of Luke expresses. Luke 9:30 “And behold, two men talked with Him, who were Moses and Elijah, 31who appeared in glory and spoke of His decease which He was about to accomplish at Jerusalem.†Here we are given a look at a typological or mini second coming with Jesus, Moses, and Elijah. This typifies the righteous dead: Moses as the righteous living and Elijah as part of the firstfruits. This serves as a marvelous promise to us all that heaven is real and available for all.
