Where was Moses buried!
At the age of 120 Moses struck the rock twice out of frustration, and the previous time he was instructed to strike it once to have living water. This was seen as a grave sin from a friend of God who spoke to Him face to face. Moses was suppose to speak to the rock to receive flowing, living water. Typology was critical in the way that God thought fallen humankind. Jesus was struck only once for our transgressions and after that we have been, and still is able to talk to Him and ask forgiveness. God then denied Moses access to earthly Canaan, but took him onto mount Nebo to show him where Israel will inherit the land. Deut. 34:1 “Then Moses went up from the plains of Moab to Mount Nebo, to the top of Pisgah, which is across from Jericho. And the LORD showed him all the land of Gilead as far as Dan, 2 all Naphtali and the land of Ephraim and Manasseh, all the land of Judah as far as the Western Sea, 3 the South, and the plain of the Valley of Jericho, the city of palm trees, as far as Zoar. 4 Then the LORD said to him, “This is the land of which I swore to give Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, saying, ‘I will give it to your descendants.’ I have caused you to see it with your eyes, but you shall not cross over there.†5 So Moses the servant of the LORD died there in the land of Moab, according to the word of the LORD. 6 And He buried him in a valley in the land of Moab, opposite Beth Peor; but no one knows his grave to this day. 7 Moses was one hundred and twenty years old when he died. His eyes were not dim nor his natural vigor diminished.†Is this the full story? We see further information that emerges from the New Testament. Matt. 17:1 “Now after six days Jesus took Peter, James, and John his brother, led them up on a high mountain by themselves; 2 and He was transfigured before them. His face shone like the sun, and His clothes became as white as the light. 3 And behold, Moses and Elijah appeared to them, talking with Him.†We now see a typological of a mini second coming as Jesus becomes transfigured in the company of Moses (who died) and Elijah (who was taken directly to heaven without seeing death) that depicts the righteous dead and righteous alive at the second coming of Christ. Jesus Christ’s half brother Jude adds other interesting facts. Jude 1:9 “Yet Michael the archangel, in contending with the devil, when he disputed about the body of Moses, dared not bring against him a reviling accusation, but said, “The Lord rebuke you!†This points to Jesus being named Michael as He is referred to when in battle and conflict, as in this case was the case with Satan contending for the body of Moses. Jesus on mount Nebo resurrected Moses and took him to heaven as a type of the righteous dead, but we see instant objection by Satan who is questioning Jesus’ authority for having taken Moses. This was simply because the event occurred prior to Golgotha which was still 1500 years in the future. Jesus however utilised the authority from the future fact that the serpent’s head will be crushed. There is no sepulcher as he is now alive and in heaven awaiting the final group saved with the second coming. Roy Spammer
