Was Jesus killed or how did it work?
Hos 11:8 “How can I give you up, Ephraim? How can I hand you over, Israel? How can I make you like Admah? How can I set you like Zeboiim? My heart churns within Me; My sympathy is stirred. How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I deliver thee, Israel?†Israel continued to rebel against God and eventually if continually requested God oblige and gives people up to the result of their own choice! Jesus would have died in the garden: Matt. 26:38 “Then He said to them, “My soul is exceedingly sorrowful, even to death. Stay here and watch with Me.†Luke 22:43 “Then an angel appeared to Him from heaven, strengthening Him.†Jesus died the second death, the death of God forsakenness. Jesus carried on Him all the sin of the world and as He was 100% divine but also 100% man He was Jacob’s ladder. With being man He could reach down to the lowest and being divine He could bring man to be in harmony with God. His divinity could not die but was cloaked with humanity and the latter died, but it was not the first death of sleep it was the second death of permanent separation from the source of life and hear Jesus’ despairing cry: Matt.27:46 “And about the ninth hour Jesus cried out with a loud voice, saying, “Eli, Eli, lama sabachthani?†that is, “My God, My God, why have You forsaken Me?†Here He cries to God His Father and God the Holy Spirit as He is given up like Israel in Hosea and the result that Jesus in human form died! For us who will continue to choose against Him He will after the Millenium also give us up but then this will be the situation: Heb. 12:29 “For our God is a consuming fire.†We now should use the opportunity to become fireproof as to be filled with the Holy Spirit and when we are sealed we will be fireproof. John 10:15 “As the Father knows Me, even so, I know the Father; and I lay down My life for the sheep.†He willingly gave His life for us! People put to death on the cross did not die the same day as they before Sabbath usually broke their long bones to accelerate their death. The Roman soldiers pierced His side and were surprised that He was already dead. He was crushed in the winepress for us but was killed by the enormity of His work of reconciling the sinner to God. We also have a Christian writer, the most prolific female writer in the English language alluding to this: Pilate agreed, and the soldiers broke the legs of the two thieves to hurry their death. But Jesus was already dead. The coarse soldiers, softened by what they had heard and seen of Christ, were restrained from breaking His legs. This fulfilled the law of the Passover, “‘They shall leave none of it until morning, nor break one of its bones.’†Numbers 9:12. – {HH 355.1} The priests and rulers were amazed to find that Christ was dead. It was unheard of for anyone to die within six hours of crucifixion. The priests wanted to make sure of Jesus’ death, and at their suggestion, a soldier thrust a spear into the Savior’s side. From the wound flowed two distinct streams, one of blood, the other of water. – {HH 355.2} John states, “One of the soldiers pierced His side with a spear, and immediately blood and water came out. And he who has seen has testified, and his testimony is true. ... These things were done that the Scripture should be fulfilled, ‘Not one of His bones shall be broken.’ And again another Scripture says, ‘They shall look on Him whom they pierced.’†John 19:34-37. – {HH 355.3} After the Resurrection, the priests circulated the report that Christ did not die on the cross, that He merely fainted and later revived. The action of the Roman soldiers proves that He was already dead. If His life had not been already extinct, this wound would have caused instant death. – {HH 355.4} But it was not the spear thrust nor the pain of the cross that caused the death of Jesus. That cry, uttered “with a loud voice†(Matthew 27:50; Luke 23:46) at the moment of death, and the stream of blood and water declared that He died of a broken heartbroken by mental anguish, killed by the sin of the world. – {HH 355.5} Loretta Lynn sang: https://lyricstranslate.com/en/Poss-Loretta-Lynn-He-could-have-called-ten-thousand-angels-lyrics.html He could have called ten thousand angels They bound the hands of Jesus in the garden where he prayed They led him thru the streets in shame They spat upon the savior so pure and free from sin They said, "crucify him: he's to blame He could have called ten thousand angels To destroy the world and set him free He could have called ten thousand angels But he died alone, for you and me Upon his precious head they placed a crown of thorns They laughed and said, "Behold the king" They struck him and they cursed him and mocked his holy name All alone he suffered everything When they nailed him to the cross, his mother stood nearby, He said, "Woman, behold thy son!" He cried, "I thirst for water," but they gave him none to drink Then the sinful work of man was done To the howling mob he yielded: he did not for mercy cry The cross of shame he took alone And when he cried, "It’s finished," he gave himself to die Salvation's wondrous plan was done
