When Christ returns for the second time, what is the implication in Revelation 1:7, namely, even they who pierced Him?
Rev. 1:7 “ Behold, He is coming with clouds, and every eye will see Him, even they who pierced Him. And all the tribes of the earth will mourn because of Him. Even so, Amen.†In the verse above we see that everyone who is alive at the time of Christ’s coming will see and experience His return. This verse again ignores the rapture theory and also neutralises the idea that a portion will be raptured, including the redeemed, since all the generations that are alive are involved. We also see reference in the Bible to “every eye will see Him†which lends support to a special resurrection for those in the grave who were involved in His death. They are therefore possibly going to die three times. In His own words, Jesus supports such a prediction. Matt. 23:36-39 “Assuredly, I say to you, all these things will come upon this generation. O Jerusalem, Jerusalem, the one who kills the prophets and stones those who are sent to her! How often I wanted to gather your children together, as a hen gathers her chicks under her wings, but you were not willing! See! Your house is left to you desolate; for I say to you, you shall see Me no more till you say, Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!†It is interesting to note the following: If we are born twice, we will only die once, and if we are born only once, we will die twice. Or put differently the following: we are born as babies, baptized or born again as sentient Christians and then we have the potential to be saved because we are now members of the heavenly family. If we choose not to have the “born again†experience, we disqualify ourselves and choose to have a part in the second death or permanent removal from God.
