What do the angesl and four winds mean?
Rev. 7:1 “After these things I saw four angels standing at the four corners of the earth, holding the four winds of the earth, that the wind should not blow on the earth, on the sea, or on any tree. 2 Then I saw another angel ascending from the east, having the seal of the living God. And he cried with a loud voice to the four angels to whom it was granted to harm the earth and the sea, 3 saying, “Do not harm the earth, the sea, or the trees till we have sealed the servants of our God on their foreheads.†4 And I heard the number of those who were sealed. One hundred and forty-four thousand of all the tribes of the children of Israel were sealed:†We are given a picture of behind the scene activity in the above passage. We realize that the earth does not have four corners, but in this verse, this represents the whole earth. In the Bible, the wind is indicative of strife and turmoil, and even in normal conversation we talk about: winds of change. This then represents the four directions and therefore represents the full complement. Acts 2:2 “And suddenly there came a sound from heaven, as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting. 3Then there appeared to them divided tongues, as of fire, and one sat upon each of them.†We also see the working of the Holy Spirit is described as like a wind. The Revelation passage confirms that ‘the winds of strife are held in check’ while the Holy Spirit works to seal those who are true followers of Jesus. Once the sealing is complete, only then the angels will allow the world to experience a world controlled by Satan and the winds of strife will bring absolute chaos. Most experiences we tend to anticipation is never as bad in reality, but this final chapter in earth’s history will be without equal and far worse than anticipated!
