Paradise and New Jerusalem, are they the same?
We always talk about Eden as Paradise and therefore a well-known term, Eden lost and Eden regained. Our first parents arrived in Eden after creation, and post-sin, they were prevented by angels to get to the tree of life. Gen. 3:23 “therefore the LORD God sent him out of the garden of Eden to till the ground from which he was taken. 24So He drove out the man; and He placed cherubim at the east of the Garden of Eden, and a flaming sword which turned every way, to guard the way to the tree of life.†We will inherit the Earth, and God is preparing a new Eden or Paradise. But for now, we will have a dwelling in the New Jerusalem, but also be planting and farming in rural places with our own garden. The New Jerusalem is only part of that Paradise. Isa. 65:21 “And they shall build houses, and inhabit them; and they shall plant vineyards, and eat the fruit of them. 22 They shall not build, and another inhabit; they shall not plant, and another eat: for as the days of a tree are the days of my people, and mine elect shall long enjoy the work of their hands.†We are not able to imagine what awaits us. 1 Cor. 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.â€
